Peach Strawberry Basil Sparkling Sangria

Halved and Pitted peaches and strawberries - knife - Wood cutting board

Tools Needed

  • 1 Gallon or Larger Drink Pitcher

  • 1 Small Cutting Board

  • 1 Chefs Knife

  • 1 Large Spoon or a Really Big Muddler

  • Measuring Cups

  • 1 Cocktail Jigger (optional)

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Peaches (About Two Medium-Sized Peaches)

  • 1 Pint Strawberries

  • 1/4 Cup Fresh Basil Leaves

  • 1 Bottle of Sweet Red Wine (I recommend a Moscato)

  • 4-6 oz of Lemon Gin (I used Malfy Con Limone)

  • 1 Quart Lemonade (check out my homemade lemonade recipe here)

  • 1 Liter Bottle of Strawberry Selzer Water

Prep

  1. Grab your cutting board, knife, and peaches.

  2. Pit peaches, and cut into large slices. You can put these directly into the pitcher after they are cut.

    a. (Click here to see a more in-depth tutorial on how to pit a peach.)

  3. Remove stems of strawberries and cut them into quarters. Toss them in the drink pitcher with the peaches.

  4. Pick about 1/2cup of Basil Leaves. Try and pick as many of the smaller ones as possible because they are sweeter. Add the basil to the pitcher also.

Quick Assembly

  1. With either a large spoon or a muddler (or even a potato masher) highly press the fruit and basil to slightly soften the fruit.

  2. Next, add red wine, gin, and lemonade to the pitcher. Let sit overnight or at a minimum 4 hours.

  3. Immediately before serving, add the seltzer water.
